The Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC) is pleased to announce its 2nd Annual Water Efficiency Technical Conference under the theme “Advancing Smart Water Efficiency: Technologies, Skills and Strategies for a Resilient Future.” The conference will be held on 14 May 2026 at the Premier Hotel O.R. Tambo Airport.
Background
SAEEC has identified a gap in the industry and in South Africa, where focus on water efficiency has been limited. South Africa, along with the broader Sub-Saharan region, continues to face increasing pressure on water resources due to climate variability, population growth, and industrial demand. Improving water efficiency across sectors has become critical for sustainability, cost reduction, resilience, and long-term resource security.
The upcoming 2026 Water Efficiency Technical Conference aims to strengthen national capacity in adopting modern water efficiency technologies, standards, auditing practices, and optimisation strategies. The conference draws inspiration from internationally recognised frameworks such as the Certified Water Efficiency Professional (CWEP®) training programme, which provides industry best practices in measurement, verification, auditing, technology selection, and water-efficient infrastructure design.
Conference Theme
“Advancing Smart Water Efficiency: Technologies, Skills and Strategies for a Resilient Future”
This theme reflects the growing need for technological innovation, professional capacity building, and strategic interventions across industrial, commercial, and public sectors. It aligns with CWEP® learning pillars such as facility auditing, metering, benchmarking, water-efficient technologies, water sourcing options, and water management processes.
