New Leadership at the Helm: South African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC) Welcomes Incoming President
March 2025 – The South African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC) wishes to announced the appointment of its new president, Sashay Ramdharee, a passionate leader in sustainable energy and environmental advocacy. He comes with a strong background in policy development, technological innovation, and industry collaboration, Sashay is set to steer the SAEEC further in its continuous endeavours of the promotion of an energy and water efficiency future.
A Vision for Sustainable Growth
As the world grapples with climate change and rising energy demands, the role of the SAEEC has never been more crucial. Sashay brings a wealth of experience, having previously served in key leadership roles within the energy sector. His tenure is expected to focus on advancing clean energy solutions, enhancing energy efficiency standards, and fostering partnerships between governments, businesses, and communities.
In a statement following his appointment, Sashay emphasized the importance of collaboration: “Energy efficiency is the cornerstone of a sustainable future. Message from the SAEEC President: Sashay Ramdharee
I stand before you today with immense gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility as I accept the role of President of the SAEEC. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the members of the Confederation, the Board of Directors, and all those who have entrusted me with this great responsibility. Your confidence in my leadership inspires me, and I am truly honoured to serve.
We are at a pivotal moment in history. The global demand for energy continues to rise, and so do the challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and economic uncertainty. But with these challenges come opportunities—opportunities to innovate, to collaborate, and to lead the way in shaping a more energy-efficient and sustainable future.
The Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation has long been a driving force in advancing policies, technologies, and partnerships that promote responsible energy use. As your new president, I am committed to building upon this legacy by focusing on these key priorities:
1. Strengthening Energy Efficiency Policies – Working with policymakers to enhance regulatory frameworks that encourage sustainable energy use.
2. Promoting Technological Innovation – Supporting research and development in energy-efficient technologies for industries and households.
3. Expanding Public-Private Partnerships – Encouraging businesses to invest in sustainable solutions through incentives and collaboration.
4. Education & Awareness Campaigns – Engaging communities and organizations to promote energy conservation best practices.
5. Global Outreach & Cooperation – Strengthening ties with international bodies to align energy efficiency goals with global sustainability efforts.
6. Technical Conference on Water Effiiency 20-23 May 2025 and 20th Annual SAEEC Conference 02-03 October, 2025: Our Conference theme: ENGINEERING the FUTURE: Energy Efficiency in the Circular Economy.
I encourage all members to actively participate in our upcoming events, share your insights, and collaborate on projects that can promote energy efficiency in your areas of influence. Your engagement is vital for our collective success.
The work ahead will not always be easy, but I firmly believe that through our collective efforts, and strong executive board we can drive meaningful change. Each of us here has a role to play, whether as policymakers, innovators, advocates, or consumers. Together, we can build a world where energy efficiency is not just an ambition but a reality—where businesses thrive, communities prosper, and the environment is preserved for future generations.
