Industry Leaders to Convene at the 2nd Annual Water Efficiency Technical Conference to Tackle Southern Africa’s Water Challenges

The Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Water Efficiency Technical Conference, taking place on Thursday, 14 May 2026, at the Premier Hotel O.R. Tambo, Johannesburg.

Under the theme “Advancing Smart Water Efficiency: Technologies, Skills and Strategies for a Resilient Future,” the conference will bring together industry leaders, engineers, policymakers, researchers, and sustainability professionals to explore practical solutions to one of Southern Africa’s most pressing challenges: water security.

Across the region, growing pressure on water systems, driven by climate variability, population growth, urban expansion, and industrial demand, is placing unprecedented strain on already vulnerable water resources. Improving water efficiency is no longer simply an environmental consideration; it has become a strategic priority for economic stability, infrastructure resilience, and sustainable development.

The SAEEC Water Efficiency Technical Conference provides a unique platform for professionals across sectors to exchange knowledge, highlight innovation, and identify practical strategies to improve water management across domestic, commercial, and industrial environments. Delegates will gain insights into innovative technologies, water auditing and verification methodologies, strategic water management, reuse and recycling solutions, and the regulatory frameworks shaping water governance in Southern Africa.

“This conference is not only about sharing knowledge; it is about building the collective capacity of industry, government, and practitioners to manage water more intelligently, efficiently, and sustainably. Efficient water use is fundamental to protecting infrastructure, supporting economic growth, and strengthening environmental resilience across the region,” said Ms. Lesego Gaegane, SAEEC Board Member.

Attendees will walk away with practical tools and actionable insights to improve water performance within their organisations while strengthening collaboration across the sector.

Key topics to be explored include:

• Water-efficient systems in domestic, commercial, and industrial facilities
• Sustainable water infrastructure and system design
• Water reuse, recycling, and alternative water sourcing
• Management of water-intensive users and facilities
• Water auditing, verification, and performance measurement
• Policy and regulatory frameworks shaping water efficiency

Delegates will also submit technical papers for peer review, with selected contributions potentially published in SAEEC’s Annual Technical Journal, offering an opportunity to highlight expertise and contribute to industry knowledge.

The conference is designed for a broad range of professionals, including:

• Water engineers
CWEP® professionals
• Facility and plant managers
• Architects and designers
• Corporate directors and CFOs
• Energy and water managers
• Sustainability professionals
